MEETING MINUTES
LA QUINTA CITY HALL -COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM
September 14, 1992
The regulaz meeting of the La Quinta Art in Public Places Committee (APP) was called to order
at the hour of 3:02 P.M. by Chairman John Walling.
ROLL CALL: Committee Members Kay Wolff, Meg Robertson, Jerry
Herman, Nancy Natd, Chairman Walling.
STAFF PRESENT: Associate Planner Stan Sawa, Department Secretary Betty
Anthony.
I. CONSENT CALENDAR -None
II. BUSINESS ITEMS
A. Chairman Walling reviewed the prospective artists that were to make a
presentation. Following the review the following artists made a presentation.

Following the presentations the Committee discussed the various projects and
artists. Committee Member Wolff moved and Committee Member Kobertson
seconded a motion to ask Mr. Louis De Martino to meet with the Carnmittee to
further discuss his project. Unanimously approved.
III. OTHER
A. The Committee discussed future agenda items as follows:
1. Mr. Jerry Allen: Committee Members Robertson and Wolff' were to
contact Mr. Allen regarding the possibility of reducing his costs and time
stay in the Desert in hopes of obtaining him for the December Mayor's
Breakfast.
2. Temporary Art Projects: Committee Member Wolff asked that this item
be looked into for future use.
3. City Hall Water Well Mural: Chairman Walling gave a description of
where the well site was located and felt the members should give some
thought as to what could possibly be done.
4. Desert Hospital Art Project: Department Secretary Betty Anthony
informed the members that she had contacted Palm Springs Art in Public
Places and they had no knowledge of any art project being proposed by
Desert Hospital. Committee Member Robertson was to contact Desert
Hospital for further information.
5. New artist applications/slides/videos: Department Secretary Betty
Anthony informed the members that she would have new material for their
review at the next meeting.
6. Chairman Walling suggested that at the next meeting the C'.ommittee
should look into additional site locations for art on the Civic Center site.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, it was moved by Committee Member Herman and seconded
by Committee Member Nard to adjourn to a regular meefing of the Art in Public Places
Committee on October 7, 1992 at 3:00 P.M. This meeting of the Art in Public Places
Committee was adjourned at 4:35 P.M., September 14, 1992.
