AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING PROVISIONS OF THE
CITY'S ZONING ORDINANCE AND SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE
RELATING TO THE TIME AND MANNER OF GIVING NOTICES
OF PUBLIC HEARINGS REGARDING REZONINGS, AMENDMENTS
TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE, VARIANCES, CONDITIONAL
USE PERMITS, PUBLIC USE PERMITS AND SUBDIVISION
TENTATIVE MAPS.
The city council of the City of La Quinta, California, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The first two sentences of subsection (1) of Section 20.3 of
Riverside County Ordinance No. 348 (which was adopted by reference by this City
Council by Ordinance No. 5 operative August 29, 1982) relating to notices of
public hearings regarding rezonings and amendments to the zoning ordinance,
hereby are amended to read as follows:
(1) The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing on the
proposed amendment. Notice of the time and place of the
hearing, including a general description of the area and
explanation of the matter to be considered, shall be given
at least 10 calendar days before the hearing, by publica-
tion or posting, pursuant to Section 65854 of the California
Planning and Zoning Law.
SECTION 2. The second sentence of subsection (3) of Section 18.26 of
Riverside County Ordinance No. 348 (which was adopted by reference by this
City Council by Ordinance No. 5 operative August 29, 1982) relating to notices
of public hearings regarding variances, conditional use permits and public use
permits, hereby is amended to read as follows:
Notice of the time and place of the public hearing shall also be
posted in at least three public places in the city, at least 10
days before the hearing.
SECTION 3. The second sentence of subsection A. of Section 6.5 of Riverside
County Ordinance No. 460 (which was adopted by reference by this City Council by
Ordinance No. 5 operative August 29, 1982) relating to notices of public hearings
regarding subdivision tentative maps, hereby is amended to read as follows:
Notice of the hearing shall be given at least 10 days before the
hearing by U.S. mail, postage prepaid, to owners of real property
located within 300 feet of the exterior boundaries of the property
to be considered, as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of
the county and any update issued by the County Assessor and by
publication once in a newspaper of general circulation printed and
published in the county and circulated in the City.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect thirty (30) days after passage.
SECTION 5. POSTING. The City Clerk shall within 15 days after the passage
of this ordinance, cause it to be posted in at least the 3 public places desig-
nated by resolution of the City Council; shall certify to the adoption and
posting of this ordinance; and shall cause this ordinance and its certification
together with proof of posting, tO be entered in the book .of ordinances of
this City.
The foregoing. ordinance was approved and adopted at a meeting of the City
Council held this ?th day of September , 1982, by the following
vote:
AYES: Council Members Abbott, Baier, Cox, Henderson and Mayor
Wolff.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
