Dear Mr. Harold:
Your December 22, 1992 letter regarding the above subject has been
referred to me for reply.
The owners of property are exempt from contractor licensing
pursuant to the provisions of Business & Professions Code Section
7044 (copy attached). Review of the section reveals that the.
licensing exemption afforded by the section is applicable for
residential structures only if the following .conditions are
present:
1. Four or fewer structures are intended/offered for sale in any
one calendar ear.
All work on such structures must be performed by
subcontractors that are licensed pursuant to the Contractors
License Law.
