Dear City Council of Io Quinta:
I am writing this letter to request that you waive the fee for
a conditional use permit application on our behalf. The reason is
that the fee is too much money for us to pay for a variation which
involves household use.
We are starting to build a home,for our family in the high cove.
In an area we have designated for hobby/craft use we would like to
install a cooktop (not a full stove, just the top).
My husbands' father had bowel surgery for cancer a couple of
years ago, and we were told to expect reoccurance because of the lymph
node involvement which was found at the time of surgery. He hasn't
been doing well these past few months. After his death we anticipate
that my husband's mother will stay with us for frequent visits. It
would give her great joy if when the children come to her entry at 8:00 AM
(BEDROOM #4), she could take them into the 8'x 15' side room (adjacent
to her bedroom and bath), and make them a special breakfast to share
together in the window seated nookq which overlooks the central courtyard.

BACKGROUND:
The Applicant intends to construct a single family residence on
a 100 -foot by 100 -foot property probably at the southwest
corner of Avenida Juarez and Calle Arroba. The Applicant has
verbally indicated that they are considering an alternative
site at the southeast corner of Avenida Madera and Calle
Potrero. As a part of the construction the Applicant wishes to
construct an attached "Granny Flat", consisting of a bedroom,
bath, and kitchen with a cooktop with approximately 325 square
feet of floor area. "Granny Flats" are a dwelling unit to be
constructed or attached to, a primary residence if the second
dwelling unit is intended for the sole occupancy of one or two
adult persons who are 60 years of age or older and the floor
space doesn't exceed 640 square feet. The Applicant has
submitted a letter indicating that the unit would be frequently
occupied by her husband's mother (see attachment).
.The Municipal Code requires a Conditional Use Permit for this
use in the SR Zone. The filing fee is $1,695 which the_o.
Applicant feels is "too much money for us to pay for a
variation which involves household use". Therefore, she 'is
asking that this fee be waived.
