General ;Description I
E -Tech Heat Pump , Water Heaters save energy
compared to conventional water heaters. 'The 8108 model
extracts low grade heat from the air, upgrades it, and then
transfers it to.water. Ajr passing through the unit is cooled
and dehumidified. • , Considerably more energy is
transferred to the water than is used to operate the heat
m
pu. The unit contains a compressor, air -to -refrigerant
evaporator coil, air fan, water circulating pump, refrigerant -
to -water condenser coil, expansion device, and controls.
Air Is forced over the evaporator coil by the fan, while
water is circulated fron{ the water storage tank through the
condenser coil.
E -Tech Heat Pump Water Heaters have been
thoroughly tested by utilities, government agencies, and
' independent laboratories. Ratings and specifications are
in accordance with Gas Appliance Manufacturers
Association (GAMA) standards.
Installation & Operation
The 8108 Is plumped and wired to a separate electric
water heater in new or retrofit applications. The unit may
be placed on the floqr, or hung from the ceiling using
E Tech's G674 ceiling bracket. It must be protected from
precipitation and air temperatures above 130°F. Operation
of the 13108 may Vnpact the heating and cooling
requirements of a conditioned space. The room
surrounding the heat pymp must contain at least 1000 ft.3
of free air space for circulation; less space may be required
If air Infiltration is perrnitted (e.g. if the enclosure has fully
louvered doors).
The B108 connects electrically to a 230/208 VAC
single phase power supply and an electric resistance water
heater. The existing elpctric circuit may be used for retrofit
Installations. (The total load of the resistance water heater
must not exceed 4500 watts). A selector switch sets the
operating mode: heat pump, resistance elements, or no
heating (vacation mode).
If the room temperature falls to approximately 45°F,
the 8108 shuts off ano energizes the tank element(s). If
the temperature of the water lines Inside of the 13108 drops
to 42°F, the water cirqulating pump turns on and heated
water in the tank circulates through the system. The pump
will shut off when the water temperature rises to 52°F.
Thus, the 8108 is freeze protected as long -as electric
power is available and the resistance heater Is
operational.
