RE: penetrations and holes related to TV cabling installation in condominium unit at
Palm Royale C.C.
Dear Mr. Wiegers,
Please excuse the tardiness of this letter regarding your concerns about the installation
of the wiring for your TV cable system.
Our resea'rch'indicates'that the building in which your,unit is located was built under the
requirements of the 1985 edition of the Uniform- Building Code published by the
International Conference of Building Officials. During our site visit Building Inspector AJ
Ortega and I observed holes with TV cables in walls; TV cable penetrations in walls,
floors and ceilings. The current conditions that resulted from the installation of the
cabling jeopardizes the Building Permit Approval of your unit and to a larger extent the
entire building as I assume other units have the same type of installation conditions.
Repairs shall be made to restore the unit / building to its original approved condition.
I will forward a copy of this letter to your Homeowners Association in c/o Avail Property
Management and to Jason Stubble — Fire Inspector with the Riverside County Fire
Department for their information and use.
Relative items from the 1985 edition of the Uniform Building Code:
• Chapter .12 Section 1202(b) requires that your building be constructed of not less
than one -hour fire resistive construction throughout.
• Penetrations of walls, partitions, floor ceilings or roof ceilings shall be fire -
Stopped. (UBC Sections 4034, 4035)
Wall and floor -ceiling assemblies separating dwelling units from each other shall
provide sound insulation. Penetrations or openings shall be sealed, lined,
insulated or otherwise treated to maintain the required ratings. (UBC Section
3501)
