We are pleased that finally the issue regarding the curb drainage is being
addressed. Mr. Chris Vogt has been helpful since he has become aware of the
issue. We would like to be updated on the progress of the project.
However we are disappointed in the response from Mr. Tom Hartung.
When I asked him about a grandfather clause he responded that there were not
any grandfather clauses. My wife also received the same response when calling
the city months earlier, "absolutely no grandfather clause". Mr. Hartung then
changed his answer saying that there may be a grandfather clause. He then
proceeded to tell me that county regulations superceed city regulations and
county would permit her to have the wall. Mr. Hartung seemed very confused as
to what the regulations are in this matter. He then proceeded to tell me that the
chain link fence she replaced with wood on the other neighbors side has been up
since before the city was incorporated. This is not'true, she put'that up in
December or January and if needed --I can obtain a statement from:that neighbor
to verify this information. Installing that wood fence is what has obstructed her
vision of oncoming traffic and children in the street. This is just another example
of how the city has allowed her to break the codes.
What I am asking for is a copy of the grandfather clause to enable me to
research this with the county of Riverside. Further I would like to know where I
could get a copy of the city codes and ordinances. Thankyou for your response
in this matter.
