On July 17, 2001 an asbestos inspection and bulk sampling was conducted at the above project address.
Samples were taken of all .suspect asbestos containing' building materials from the interior only at the
request of the client named_ above. Various removed _samples were submitted to Tec -An, Inc- in .
• Oklahoma City;_ OK (NVLAP Code 200325-0) to estimate the percentage of asbestos by volume and

Tec -An, Inc. determines percentages and" type of !asbestos by., using EPA approved;; method..
600/14-931116, the , principles of polarized light - microscopy and dispersion staining: Asbestos is
+ quantified by using the visual arena estimation technique and can only determine the approximate
Percentage of asbestos present. .
After a thorough search is eonducted and no asbestos is detested °rtorie`detected° wilt "be noted in the
report. The essence of.polarized light microscopy is not to emphatically determine that no asbestos is
present, merely that none was detected or, if it was, it was likely to be less than 1.096 of the sample.
When findings. reveal less than or close to 1.0% asbestos coniained in a`sample, further analysis may be
called for on additional samples to confirm or, denounce the initial findings. The South'.Coast`Air Quality
Management Dietrict'.(SCAOMD) requires 'bulk sampling be conducted according to the A.H.E.R.A. '
protocol provisions of. 40 CFR Part 763.107. The A.H.E.R.A. protocol recommends three 'or more
samples from a homogeneous area .be analyzed before, any building material is determined to be .

La Quinta, CA., 92253
Re: Fire Damage Repair ,
Dear Mr. Merrill,
This letter is provided to, confirm your concern for the means of emergency escape fiom both
the Guest and Master Bedroom. Fire damage repair plans approved by myself for fire re-
construction do incorrectly reflect 3030 windows in both bedrooms with no notation as to the
type of window to be installed.
The mmimum means 'of emergency escape for the Guest and Master Bedroom require at least
one escape opening to have a'net clear opening of 5.7 square feet. The minimum net clear
opening height shall be 24 inches. The minimum net clear opening width shall be 20 inches. All
escape windows shall have a finished sill height not more than 44 inches above the finished
floor. (CBC 310.4)
Prior to final inspection, submit documentation for proposed replacement of egress windows.
Documentation shall be reviewed and approved prior to installation. I would like to sincerely
apologize for my oversight in plan review, please contact me directly at (760) 777-7027 for any
question or fiu-ther assistance.
