that Mr. Ceyer discussed with me from the framing inspection that the inspector performed. 1 have requested Mr. Geyer to make the
correction as indicated below;
I . Ref: Detail 3 on S1.5; The Hardy Panels at the front of the garage require straps to be installed vertically on each 4" column-
to
olumnto the beam above. This is a requirement of Hardy Frame and I have instt'ucted Mr. Geyer to install the straps.
2. Shearwalls 1 and 10 are installed with PHD holddowns. The holddowns are installed•above the plate to allow for a threaded
coupler to be installed extending the length of the anchor bolt that was in;talled too deeply. ]Chis is not accoMing to tate
Simpson catalog that requires the installation of a pre -deflected holddown to be flush to the plate. To correct this deficiency,
a number of pressure blocks•where added between the bottom of the raised holddown and the mud -sill. This will help to
develop the tension required by the holddown and also keep the bottom of the connector flush to the wood.
These were the only two items that Mr. Geyer brought to my attention. Please feel free to contact me before 8/20/04 (1 will be leaving
on vacation at this time) to discuss any issues you may have left to resolve.

In compliance with UBC Section 1702, a struchual observation was performed on the structure located at`57-595 S_ Valley lane;
Lion's Gate, La Quinta CA 92253. The Observation was performed on this buildvig on Monday, August 9, 2004 at 6;30PM. An
inspection was performed for the load path elements including; shear panel type and nailing, shearwall to roof connections, blocking,
drag and strap connections, general framing (in conformance to conventional framing standards) and mechanical anchorage.

Structural Observation shall be provided in Seismic Zone.3 or 4 when one of the following conditions exists:
The structure is defined in Table 16-K as Occupancy Category I, II or III or,
2. The structure is required to comply with section 403, or
3. When so designated by the architect or engineer of record, or
4. When such observation is specifically required by the building official.
The owner shall employ the engineer or architect responsible for the strut ural design, or another engineer or
architm designated by the engineer or architect responsible for the structcural design, to perform structural
observation as defined in Section 220. observed deficiencies shall be reperted in writing to the owner's
representative, special inspector, contractor and the building official. The structural observer shall submit to the
building official a written statement that the site visits have been made and identifying any reported deficiencies
which, to the best of the structural observers knowledge, have not been re::olved.

responsible for the structural design has certified to the best of his knowledge that the building complies with the design,
drawings and details for the lateral resisting system.
