COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION
MINUTES
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2014
A regular meeting of the La Quinta Community Services Commission was called to
order at 5:30 p.m. by Commissioner Fitzpatrick.
PRESENT: Commissioners Blakeley, Engel, and Fitzpatrick
ABSENT: Commissioners Alford and Lawrence
STAFF PRESENT: Edie Hylton, Community Services Director; Steve Howlett,
Golf /Parks Manager; and Angela Guereque, Senior Secretary.
Commissioner Engel led the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT - None.
CONFIRMATION OF AGENDA
Motion - It was moved by Commissioners Blakeley /Engel to confirm the agenda as
submitted. Motion passed unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion - A motion was made by Commissioners Engel /Blakeley to approve the
December 9, 2013 Community Services Commission Minutes as submitted.
Motion passed unanimously.
BUSINESS SESSION
1. CONSIDERATION OF SCULPTURES AT THE ENTRY TO LA QUINTA
FAIRWAYS
Director Hylton presented the staff report.
Artist, David Falossi spoke to the Commission about the process of installing the
three stone and glass columns.
Commissioner Blakeley asked if the Artist anticipated any problems with the
structural engineering. Director Hylton stated that structural engineering is required
as part of the contract.

Diane Barrett, Board of Directors, La Quinta Fairways, explained to the Commission
that the Board supports the recommendation but the membership has not looked at
the project yet.
Motion - A motion was made by Commissioners Blakeley /Engel to recommend the
purchase of sculptures at the entry to the La Quinta Fairways subdivision to the
City Council. Motion passed unanimously.
2. CONSIDERATION OF TWO COMMISSIONERS TO ASSIST THE CIVIC
CENTER ART PURCHASE COMMITTEE
Motion - A motion was made by Commissioners Engel /Fitzpatrick to appoint
Commissioners Alford /Blakeley to assist the Civic Center Art Purchase Committee
to select Civic Center Art during the La Quinta Arts Festival. Motion passed
unanimously.
3. PARTICIPATION FOR THE CITY BIRTHDAY PARTY AND COMMUNITY
PICNIC
Commissioner Blakeley suggested cookies be served instead of muffins.
Motion - A motion was made by Commissioners Blakeley /Engel to select
Commissioners Alford /Fitzpatrick to work at the City booth for the City Birthday
Party and Community Picnic. Motion passed unanimously.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, it was moved by Commissioners Blakeley /Engel to
adjourn the meeting at 6:10 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
