affective immediately, please accept this letter as formal notice that we are releasing you from the contract that we
entered with your company on September.26, 2013; for various general contractor services on the home of Anthony
Maddelina, located at 78985 Del Monte Court, La Quinta. CA..
Per our telephone conversation this morning, the officials at the City of la Quinta Building Department, specifically,
James L. Johnson and Angelica Zarco, informed us that you.are in violation of operatingwithout a current California
General Contractor license, as.your license expired on September 30, 2013. After bringing this information to your
attention this morning, you continued to presentthat your license is pending the application processing and that you are
currently still.licensed and have been working on our property as a licensed contractor. According to the Contractors
State License Board, it clearly states that "any work performed while the license is.expired is considered to be unlicensed,
and disciplinary action can betaken againstyou:" it also states clearly that "you cannot actively contract with-an..expired,
inactive or suspended license." This information from the License Board was confirmed by.the City of La Quinta.
Whether or not you believe you are licensed, the City of La Quinta and the.State Licensing.Board do not.
Additionally, you are also in violation of failing to obtain a building permit for the services that you were contracted for.
The City of La Quinta officials have no record of you.inquiring about receiving a buRdingpermit for what you have been
contraded for; which we specifically asked you to pull.a permitfor. You specifically stated after our request for a
building permit that you were told by the City of La Quinta Building Department that we did not need a permit. This'is
Simply not true. Further, there is no record.of you obtaining a subcontractor's' permit,for the workers t6afyou have had
on our property, or evidence that they have separate workers compensation. insurance, which is an entirely different
violation of many state laws.
For these reasons, we must.sever all business dealings with your company, Both myself and Tony have repeatedly
requested an updated invoice to reflect the services that you have completed to date. As of g:46pm.this evening, we.still
have not received this invoice. When you do submit an invoice to us, please include all original receipts for materials
purchased.
We are in the process of hiring a new contractor to finish the work that you are legally unable to complete as well as
having the Building Inspector review the work that you have completed. Any work that has not been done to code, as
you have previously guaranteed, will be added to any legal action we may take against you for damages.
