approach used. Items marked with an asterisk(*) may be superseded by more stringent compliance requirements
listed on the Certificate of Compliance. When this checklist is incorporated into the permit documents, the
features noted shall be considered by all parties as binding minimum component performance specifications for
the mandatory measures whether they are shown elsewhere in the documents or on this checklist only.

ACTUAL DESIGN SIZING OF HEATING AND COOLING EQUIPMENT IS THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DESIGN ENGINEER OR MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR_
The HVAC and water heating equipment. specifications used in
this document are provided to assist in selection of actual
equipment which should be equal to or better. All equipment
selection changes should be submitted to the Building Department
for Plan Check Review.
The limit on furnace sizing may be exceeded if the air flow
required by the cooling load is greater than the furnace meeting
the capacity limit can deliver in the chosen product line.
HEATING: GAS FURNACE. The building heat loss and the
resulting maximum heating equipment output calculations meet the
criteria of Title 24. This maximum may be exceeded when the
furnace in the selected product line must be larger to meet- the
cooling load air flow requirements.
COOLING: The building sensible heat gain calculated in this
report meets the criteria of Title 24 and may be used by the
mechanical contractor in equipment selection and system design.
--------------------------- ---##########-------------------------
The shading coefficients for interior shading are for
white/off-white or opaque white shading devices (e.g.,
drapes/roller shades/venetian or vertical blinds). Light or off-
white includes white with a very light pastel tint (e.g., cream
colored/eggshell white, etc). It also includes any mirror-like
metallic coating which reflects images.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR SIGNING
California Energy Commission Energy Conservation Manual,
Sec. 1-12:

..When the building type does not require the signature of
a licensed individual under the Business and Professions Code,
the building owner may take responsibility as designer.
