As a follow up to our mecting on Friday, January 27, 1995, . Michael Shovlin and I had two issues
with the Shanbri La Restaurant submission.
First, the west elevation shows wire glass windows near the front :�f their store. These windows are
]lot. acceptable to Washington Adams Partnership. Michael and i had a telephone conversation
with Robert Ricciardi and he has committed to remove the windows on the west elevation.
Second, the signagc in the city's possession ' was not approved. The signage was redesigned to
adhere to the approved. signage program. Washington Adams Partnership has approved the
Imperial Sign Co., Inc. dated 12 -11 -92 (the year is obviously incorrect, it should be 1995) . which
does t-it within the approved signage program (copy enclosed).
You should be receiving bath the revised elevations Robert Ricciardi's office and Washington
Adams Partnership approved sign package, prior to tomorrows public hearing.

Pursuant to your request, the following information is being submitted to you regarding the .
TDC leasing trailer on Washington Street, north of the existing Auto Club building.
On August 17, 1994, our Department sent a letter to Mr. Michael J. Shovlin of Transpacific
Development Company stating that the trailer at 46 -1001h Washington Street should be
removed by September 10, 1994 (see attached letter). After the letter was sent, Mr. Shovlin
came to our office to see if he could extend the permit for another one year period because
his company was going to use the trailer during the construction of the future Eisenhower
Immediate Care facility (TDC is the general contractor for the project). I informed Mr.
Shovlin to put his statements in writing and I would submit his request to Jerry for his final
review. To my knowledge, Mr. Shovlin never submitted his letter to anyone in the
Community Development Department.
Jerry has asked that this information be copied to the City Attorney with directions for her to
write a more authoritative letter, requesting Mr. Shovlin, TDC to submit the required
information or remove the trailer. If you have further instructions, please let us know.

We are in receipt of your letter requesting an additional two year time extension for your
1992 temporary trailer permit. Pursuant to Chapters 9.182 of the Municipal Zoning Code,
we are allowed to permit the trailer for a one year period subject to a one year extension if
approved by the Planning Director. The trailer has been on -site for two years; therefore, an
extension cannot be granted. The trailer should be removed from the property by September
10th.

Dear Sirs:
Your application for a temporary construction/ sales trailer is hereby approved
subject to the following conditions:
1. The trailer shall be handicap accessible pursuant to the requirements of the
Building Department and the State of California.
2. A building permit is required for the trailer and for temporary power. Please
make an application to the Building Department for the above.
3. The trailer must be self - contained with bottled water and include restroom
facilities.
4. The project site shall be maintained to an acceptable standard for use by
emergency vehicles (e.g., A.C. paving) . See Condition #7 for further
information
5. A fire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2A10BC shall be mounted by each
exit door of the trailer.
6. Permits for the storage and /or dispersing of any flammable or combustible
material shall be obtained from the Fire Department.
7. Temporary paved parking areas shall be provided on -site to accommodate
eight vehicles and a single (14' X 191) handicap parking stall will be required
for this project. All parking spaces shall meet the requirements of the City's
Off - Street Parking Code. The access driveway to the paved parking area can
be either gravel or asphalt.
8. The trailer shall be allowed to remain during on -site construction.
9. The premises shall be kept clean at all times and left in a clean state after
. completion of the project.

10. The trailer shall be skirted with a material similar in color and texture to the
exterior of the trailer.
11. Temporary landscaping shall be installed around the perimeter of the trailer.
A landscape plan shall be submitted to Staff for review and approval prior to
on -site installation of any plant material.
12. All security lights shall be tamper resistant and hooded to reduce light glare
wF ; onto Washington Street, a major thoroughfare.
13. The Applicant shall maintain a rut -free shoulder. where the temporary
driveway ties into Washington Street. The temporary driveway shall be
located where the future "in only" drive is proposed. The driveway shall be
clearly delineated and posted. Washington Street shall be kept free of debris
and dirt caused by on -site activities.
a° The trailer shall be allowed to remain for six months. An extension to this request
may be permitted subject to review and approval by the Planning Director.
