Pool Engineering, Inc. is frequently asked about the required surface coidition of reinforcing steel with regards to rust. It is a common misconception that reinfoocing steel must be free of rust. The Uniform building Code in Section 1907.4 states: 1907.4 Surface Conditions of Reinforcement 1907.4.2 Reinforcement; except prestressing tendons, with rust, rail) scale or a combination of both, shall be considered satisfactory, provided the minimum dimensions (inch -ding height of deformations) and weight of a hand -wire -brushed test specimen are not less than applicable specification requirements.
