Regarding: Structural Certification and Clarification
To Whom It May Concern,
I am a licensed Architect in the State of California and the licensed structural design professional of record for
the noted project's structural system.
The builder for the noted project has asked I certify some aspects of the existing building
discovered during demolition. Shear wall "B", an existing wall, is already a shear wall and currently
extends over 14'-0", the full length of the wall, in lieu of the specked 8'-6° length. This difference is
such that the specked retrofit holdowns are not required as the uplift drops to under 300 lbs. Also
the structure was built in 2002, the construction of which was under the 2001 CBC which required
the use of 5/8" diameter anchor bolting. Thus no epoxy set holdowns or anchor bolting is required
as presently specified at detail 2/S2. The bolting and anchorage at detail 1/S2 remains cast -in.
Therefore the project requires no special inspection as noted at detail2/S2.
I hereby state therefore, that the project still conforms to the structural design intent of the structural
design calculations and is ready for back checking.
If you have
please do not hesitate in contacting me.

COMPLIANCE STATEMENT
This certificate of compliance lists the building features and specifications needed to comply with Title 24, Parts 1 and 6 of the California Code of
Regulations, and the administrative regulations to implement them. This certificate has been signed by the individual with overall design responsibility.
The undersigned recognizes that compliance using duct design, duct sealing, verification of refrigerant charge and TXVs, insulation installation quality,
and building envelope sealing require installer testing and certification and field verification by an approved HERS rater.
