HEAT PUMP OUTDOOR UNITS
*'35,200 to 57,500 Btuh Cooling Capacity
*35,600 to 63,000 Btuh Heating Capacity
'ARI Standard 240 Certified Ratings
Lennox HP14 Series Outdoor Units Provide High Seasonal Efficiencies
With Humidity Control At Minimum Operating Cost
The HP14 line of outdoor units are equipped with the Lennox high effi-
ciency two -speed compressor staged to deliver the precise heating or cool-
ing capacity and humidity control desired. The compressor operates on low
speed under moderate heating or cooling loads and automatically shifts to
high speed for heavy load conditions. Optional Latent Load Discrimi-
nator T.M. automatically controls latent cooling capacity for optimum humidity
control. Defrost cycles are automatic and occur only when coil conditions
cause a reduction in performance.
HP14 units have SEER's of up to 11.35 with a cooling capacity range of
35,200 to 57,500 Btuh and COP ratings of up to 3.05 with heating capacities
of 35,600 to 63,000 Btuh. Matching blower powered indoor units with op-
tional supplemental electric heaters are available in up-flo, down-flo and
horizontal models. For complete indoor unit data see individual bulletins
indexed in this tab section.
The unit cabinet is constructed of heavy gauge galvanized steel with a cor-
rosion resistant baked -on outdoor enamel paint finish. Design of cabinet
with louvered inlet air panels and horizontal air discharge protects com-
pressor, fan, motor and all controls from the weather. Dual outdoor coils
are protected by rugged steel guards. Cabinet base has support channels
that elevate the unit above the mounting surface. Compressor crankcase
isheater and two stage heating and cooling thermostat with emergency heat
sub -base and warning lights are furnished with the unit.
The units are shipped factory assembled, piped and wired ready for installa-
tion. Additionally, each unit is test operated at the factory before ship-
ping to ensure unit dependability and proper operation at the job site.

Lennox Two -Speed Series "B” Compressor
The Lennox two -speed compressor is•designed for superior operating ef-
ficiency at minimum cost. Two speed operation gives staging control to
fit varying heating and cooling load requirements, extends service life of
the compressor and provides operation economy during periods of reduced
loads. Reliable compressor is hermetically sealed with built-in protection
from excessive current and temperatures. Suction cooled and overload
protected. Large housing, spring loaded discharge valve, high intake ports
and crankcase heater result in effective slugging protection. In addition,
the large volume housing provides abundant oil reserve. Oil pump is de-
signed to assure complete lubrication even during low speed operation.
Special blended oil (natural and synthetic) withstands high temperatures
without breakdown. Crankshaft is statically and dynamically computer
balanced. Low clearance volume piston and cylinder yields increased
volumetric efficiency. Strategically located discharge mufflers result in quiet
operation. Immersible PTC thermistor type crankcase heater is temperature
actuated to operate only when required and ensures proper lubrication at
all times. Motor is located within refrigerant flow pattern resulting in low
motor winding temperatures. Twin solid-state temperature sensors im-
bedded in motor windings provides protection from excessive temperatures.
Solid-state overload protector is furnished in the unit control box. Operates
at 1750 rpm•at low speed and 3500 rpm at high speed. A positive interlock
between speeds prevents both speeds from being energized simultaneously.
Entire running gear assembly is spring mounted within the sealed hous-
ing. In addition, compressor is installed in unit on resilient rubber mounts.

Versatile Electric Furnaces Feature Maximum Efficiency,
Application Flexibility and Operational Dependability.
The Lennox Ell 2 model electric furnaces have been designed for up-
flo or down-flo installation in a recreation or family room, basement,
utility room, alcove or closet. Versatile units are applicable to heat-
ing only, heating -cooling or heat pump applications. Several models
and sizes are available with a wide range of heating capacities.
The field additive optional "slide -in" coil, C12 up-flo and CR12
down-flo, installs internal to the cabinet (up stream from the electric
heat elements) and is specially matched to the unit for efficient air
delivery and maximum capacity. Up-flo or down-flo air pattern is
easily obtained by rotating the cabinet to the desired position and
inserting the corresponding coil.' For up-flo applications return air
cabinets are available for installation on either side of the furnace.
The E12 and matching return air (up-flo) cabinets are trim and
attractive looking with a durable electro -bonded automobile like
paint finish. Complete front service access is provided in cabinet.
Amk Quiet operating direct drive blowers have sufficient capacity to
LMM
handle cooling and heat pump air volume requirements. Motors are
variable speed and resiliently mounted. Efficient hammock style
fiberglass air filters do not have to be relocated to satisfy any of the
return air options. Nichrome heating elements give long service life
and efficient heating operation. Factory installed circuit breakers are
accessible external to the cabinet and eliminates the need for an
external disconnect in many areas. Thermostat is optional and must
be ordered extra.
Units have been rated and tested according to Department of
Energy (D.O.E.) test procedures and Federal Trade Commission
(F.'T.C.) labeling regulations in the Lennox Research Laboratory.
Furnaces are U.L. Listed. In addition, units and components within
are bonded for grounding to meet safety standards.for servicing
required by U.L. and N.E.C. Blower performance data is from unit
tests conducted in the Lennox Laboratory air test chamber.
Each unit is test operated at the factory and shipped assembled
(except for DXcoil) with all controls mounted and prewired. Installer
has only to mount thermostat, make duct and electrical connections.

WATER HEATER
(INTEGRAL TANK MODEL)
General Description
The E -Tech Water Heater is a non -reversing (heating only)
air -to -water heat pump (WHHP). It is used instead of a
regular water heater in order to save energy. It operates on the
heat pump principle; i.e., a compressor operating in a non-
reversing refrigeration circuit extracting heat from the airand
expelling it through the condenser to the water.
The unit is designed for new construction, replacement, or
wherever a suitable electric or gas water heater is not currently
in place. The heat pump is shipped attached, plumbed and
wired to an 82 -gallon electric water heater tank.
The heat pump section contains a compressor, air -to -
refrigerant evaporator coil, air fan, water circulating pump,
refrigerant -to -water condenser coil, expansion device, and
controls. Air is forced over the evaporator coil by the fan,
while water is circulated from the bottom of the hot water
storage tank through the condenser coil, and returned to the
tank by the circulating pump.
E -Tech Water Heaters have been thoroughly tested by utili-
ties, government agencies and independent laboratories. All
ratings and specifications are in accordance with standards
proposed by the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute
or the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association.
Installation and Operation
The Model R 102 Water Heater is designed to be installed as
easily as a standard electric water heater: hot and cold lines are
soldered to the stubs on the heat pump and a 25 amp, 230 volt
power supply is connected. The only additional steps required
are purging air from the heat pump water lines and running a
condensate line to a suitable drain.
The heat rump must he protected against freezing and
temperatures greater than 95°-115°F.* This will normally
exclude attic installations. The WHHP may be installed in
unconditioned, freeze -protected space or in conditioned
space. The space cooling effect of the WHHP may have some
impact on the heating and cooling requirements of the condi-
tioned space. The minimum sire closed space for installation is
750 cubic feet; less space is required if air flow is permitted,
such as with louvered doors. In low temperature situations
(from 45* -50° F depending on relative humidity and inlet
water temperature) the heat pump will automatically shut Off
and the resistance element in the tank will be activated. In
addition, there is a three -position switch to select the normal
heat pump mode, resistance heating only mode; or sy stem off.
The R102 Water Heater is designed such that if the heat
pump must he removed for service, the tank and hOUsehOld
plumbing may be left undisturbed. Placing the selector s\\ilch
on "resistance heating" insures eater heating during the ser-
vice period.
