The control is a combination time/temperature device. The defrost control is designed to control the removal of frost, or ice from the outdoor coil of a heat pump unit. • De -frosting or de-icing is initiated at a pre -selected time interval, provided the outdoor coil is below a preset initiation tem- perature. The de -frosting or de-icing cycle is terminated as soon as the outdoor coil rises to a preset temperature or after a preset time termination, regardless of wind velocity. SERVICEABILITY. These units are designed to provide easy access to components, so that inspection, diagnostic examina- tion, adjustment or repair. take less time therefore minimizing maintenance/service expenses. These new BWX-A models have located the switch -over valve, expansion valve, check valve and two filter -driers near a compartment at the top of the unit. The electrical components are located in a compartment behind a panel at the top left hand side of the unit. With these components neatly located in their own compartment, this leaves the compressor area. With spacious room for convenient accessibility. Operation of the unit is not affected by removal of service access panels for diagnostic inspection. O.D. TEMPERATURE SENSOR. These units are equipped with an outdoor temperature sensing device (a thermistor and re- lated circuitry) which, as outdoor temperature variations occur, acts to stabilize the indoor thermostat and thus to maintain the in -door temperature at which the thermostat is set. The thermistor circuit effectively cancels out "droop", generally known in heating as "Cold 70".
