Subject: Request for Demolition Permit
Mr. Randall;
Thank you for your assistance yesterday in submitting my Tenant Improvement Project
into the City for plan check. As we discussed, this project is of great importance to my
Client, Pacific Western Bank. The Bank has lost the lease on their current facility and
must occupy the new location at 78-080 Calle Estado on or before September 15, 2006.
As you are aware, we have submitted the entire project for plan check. Per your
suggestion, this submittal is for a separate demolition permit, which hopefully will allow
us to begin work while the remainder of the project is working through the permit
process. With your approval we would like to complete the following work as option one
to completing this project on time.
Option One:
We request approval to complete all of the demolition indicated on plan sheets A 0.0
through A 2.2. This work includes all interior demolition of the partitions, flooring,
ceilings, plumbing and electrical fixtures and concrete cutting for underground plumbing
and electrical utilities inside the building. Also, there is an existing sidewalk that has been
lifted by an adjacent tree. We want to remove the existing slab and tree as well as re -
pour the slab and stripe the parking lot for handicap parking as indicated on plan sheet A
0.1,
In order to make the clients desired occupancy date we need to complete the following
work so that we can have long lead items ordered and manufactured off site.

Additionally, we request that we be allowed to complete the following work while our
plans are under review.
1. Install the new HVAC Duct for air distribution above the suspended ceiling.
2. Installation of underground plumbing pipe and electrical conduit ready for
inspection.
3. Framing of walls and one side of drywall so that field measurements for the
millwork can be taken. Millwork has a six-week lead-time.
4. Installation of J -boxes and conduit in new partition walls and top out into the
ceiling.
5. Re framing of the exterior doors and windows as proposed and refinishing the
building exterior.
We will not cover or close any work prior to permit issuance. We understand that there is
a risk in proceeding in this manner and we anticipate there will be plan check corrections.
We accept the risk and all financial responsibility that may come from allowing the
project to advance as far as we are requesting prior to permit issuance.
In the event that you find our request unacceptable, we request that we be issued a demo
permit so that we can proceed with that portion of the work as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time and attention to our project. We anticipate your favorable
response to Option One and look forward to working closely with you in making this a
successful project for both our client and the City of La Quinta.
