AUG 2 1 2007 3584 La Campana Way Palm Springs, CA 92262 By Re: Fire Sprinkler Plan Review LAQ-07-TI-035 Plaza Estado Commercial Bldg. 78-115 Calle Estado LaQuinta, CA The sprinkler plans you submitted for the above referenced project have been reviewed by Riverside County Fire Department Planning & Engineering personnel and are approved with the following conditions: 1) Permanently marked identification signs shall be attached to all control valves. 2) A sign shall be located adjacent to the alarm bell worded as follows: a) SPRINKLER FIRE ALARM - WHEN BELL RINGS CALL 911 3) Provide for 24 hour monitoring of the sprinkler alarm system. 4) The following inspections/tests are required to be witnessed by the Fire Department Planning Division staff: a) Underground: All joints must be exposed. Piping may be center loaded. 200 psi hydrostatic for 2 hours before inspection. After pressure is released, underground will be flushed. The underground flush shall be done through a pipe or hose equal in size to the sprinkler underground supply pipe. A diffuser shall be used for all underground flushes. b) Weld: Where piping has welded outlet/fittings, a weld inspection is required prior to hanging pipe. Each weld outlet/fitting must have a stamp that correlates with the certification of the welder who fabricated the pipe. A copy of the welders' certification must be provided to the inspector at the time of inspection. c) Overhead: All piping must be visible and 200 psi hydrostatic for 2 hours and flushed. Ceiling panels must not be in place. d) Final inspection. 5) The following inspections/tests are required to be witnessed by the Fire Department Planning Division staff: a) Overhead: All piping must be visible. Ceiling panels must not be in place. b) Overhead: All piping must be visible and 200 psi hydrostatic for 2 hours. (Verify with field inspector for hydro variance.) Ceiling panels must not be in place. (NFPA 13, Sec. 10-2.2.1, Exception No. 4) c) Final inspection. The fire sprinkler system must have appropriate maintenance records available for review by the fire department inspector upon request. Depending on the age of the building, the fire sprinkler system may require a current 5 -year sprinkler certification tag affixed to the system riser prior to final. The Fire Department job card, approved plans and conditions letter must be at the job site or NO inspection will be performed. Applicant/installer shall be responsible to contact the Fire Department to schedule inspection(s) a minimum of 72 hours prior to the requested inspection date.
