The insulating contractor, Western Insulation, installed one R13 batt plus one RI l batt in a 2x6 wall to achieve an R19 equivalent wall. To support their alternate application they forwarded to me, and I have attached for you, a method from Manville Insulation for adjusting the R - value of compressed mineral fiber insulation. I'have used this method to adjust the installed R24 insulation, which is compressed to 78.57% of its original size, and find it to be equal or better than one R19 installed batt. As the Title 24 compliance consultant for this project, I am willing to accept this alternative wall insulation application as equal or better. Please call me if you have any questions.
