La Quinta, CA 92253 Dear Mr. Tibb, Itis our understanding that a 3080 door is to be added at the side of the existing great room as shown in the, attached exhibit. We recommend using a 6x8 header at the new door, the same as the existing header, at the fireplace. Since the door location is in an existing shear wall, we recommend adding additional . . shear panel to the other end of the shear wall to maintain a minimum of 12' of shear panel. The added . shear panel should match the existing which is 3/8" sheathing with 8d nailing at 6"o/c. We reviewed the existing design and this shear wall did not have hold downs and thus does not need hold downs added. If you have any questions, please call me at (714) 547-1115 extension 102. I understand as an "Owner -Builder" I am tie responsible party of record on the permit. I understand that I may protect myself from potential financial risk by hiring a licensed Contractor and having the permit filed in his or her name instead of my Z4. I understand Contractors are required by law to be licensed and bonded in California and to list their license numbers on pe is and contracts.
