Suillmarized in this report are the results of in-place density tests performed at the subject site during the fine ,radina of the building pads along with pertinent observations. The subject lots are located within the southern portion of the Hideaway project site in the City of La Quinta. California. Fine grading was performed by Nuevo Engineerina using conventional heavy .W. � equipment. The previously rougil graded building pad areas were watered and the surface was recompacted with heavy equipment. In fill areas, soils obtained fi-om the cut areas of the project site were placed in thin lifts at near optimum moisture content and compacted to at least 90 Percent relative compaction. Some additional overexcavation was performed on various lots that were reconfigured to include areas beyond the previous oyerexcavation limits. The tine grading was performed as recommended in the referenced Geotechnical Update Report prepared by Sladden Engineering. Observations and field testing was performed frons June 2, 2003 to August I, 2003. Testing indicates that a nllnlnlunl of 90 Percent relative compaction was attained in the areas tested. The passing test results indicate compliance with the project specifications at the tested locations and depths but are no guarantee or \varranty of the contractors work. Field Tests: In-place moisture/density tests were performed using a nuclear density gauge in accordance with test methods QST. -M D 2922 and ASTiVI D 30 1-7. A total of 292 density tests .were performed. The approximate test locations are indicated on the attached plan and test results are summarized on the attached data sheets. August 13, 2003 -2- Project No. 522-2199 03-PASb Laboratory Tests: The moisture -density- relationships For the tested materials were determined in the laboratory in accordance with test method ASTM D 1557-91. Allowable Bearing Pressures: The structural values recommended in the Geotechnical Engineering Report prepared by Sladden Engineering remain applicable for use in foundation design. Conventional shallow spread footings should be bottomed into properly compacted fill material a minimum of 12 inches below lowest adjacent grade. Continuous footings should be at least 12 inches wide and isolated pad footings should be at least 2 feet wide. Continuous footings and isolated pad footings should be designed utilizing allowable bearing pressures of 1800 psf and 2000 psf, respectively. The recommended allowable bearing pressures may be increased by one-third for wind and seismic loading. The bearing soils are non -expansive and fall within the "very low" expansion category in accordance with Uniform Building Code (UBC) classification criteria. Summarized in this report are the results of in-place density tests performed at the subject site during the fine aradina of the building pads along with pertinent observations. The subject lots are located along Via Pontito within the northern portion of the Hideaway project site in the City of La Quinta, California. Fine grading was performed by Nuevo Engineering using conventional heavy equipment. The previously rough graded building pad areas Nvere watered and the surface was recompacted with heavy equipment. Areas that extend beyond the 'previously rough graded pads were overexcavated to the revised building envelopes. Additional overexcavation was required on lots 2,3,9,10, and 11. Soils obtained from other areas of the Hideaway project site were placed in thin lifts at near optimum moisture content and compacted to at least 90 Percent relative compaction. The fine Grading was performed as recommended in the referenced Geotechnical Update report prepared by Sladden EngineerinG. Observations and field testing was performed from September 4, 2003 through September 9, 2003. Testina indicates that a minimum of 90 Percent relative compaction was attained in the areas tested. The passing test results indicate compliance with the project specifications at the tested locations and depths but are no Guarantee or warrant) of the contractors work. October 3. 2003 -2- Project No. 522-2199 03-10-638 Field Tests: In-place moisture/density tests were performed using a nuclear density gauge in accordance with test methods ASTM D 2922 and ASTM D 3017. A total of 19 density tests were performed. The approximate test locations are indicated on the attached plan and test results are summarized on the attached data sheets. Laboratory Tests: The moisture -density relationships for the tested materials were determined in the laboratory in accordance with test method ASTNI D 1557-91. Allowable Bearing Pressures: The structural values recommended in the Geotechnical Engineering Report prepared by Sladden Engineering remain applicable for use in foundation design. Conventional shallow spread footings should be bottomed into properly compacted fill material a minimum of 12 inches below lowest adjacent grade. Continuous footings should be at least 12 inches wide and isolated pad footings should be at least 2 feet wide. Continuous footings and isolated pad footings should be designed utilizing allowable bearing pressures of 1800 psf and 2000 psf, respectively. The recommended allowable bearing pressures may be increased by one-third for wind and seismic loading. The bearing soils are non -expansive and fall within the "very low" expansion category in accordance with Uniform Building Code (UBC) classification criteria.
