I have reviewed the truss calculations and the details on the plans provided by Mojave Builders for the residence on Naranja.
The roof trusses will allow for the load imposed by the 42" tall parapet wall. The loading applied to the trusses is based upon
a uniformly distributed dead load for construction materials. The top chord of the truss is rated at 10 pounds per square foot
of dead load along its entire length. The actual materials applied to the top chord include the composition roofing material
(4.5 psf), the weight of the plywood sheathing (1.5 psf) and the weight of the trusses which is omitted from the loaded
capacity. The actual load applied to the top chord is around 6.0 pound per square foot'— which is four pounds less than the
rated capacity
It is my professional opinion that the weight of the 42" tall parapet extension does not present a significant load to the trusses
and is certainly within the allowable capacity of the truss dead load
