RE: Letter of Intent as Project Partnering Agency to City of Indio for ATP Cycle 4 Infrastructure
Application (Clinton & Miles SRTS Corridor Improvement Project)
Dear Ms. McWilliam:
The City of La Quinta intends to be a Project Partnering Agency with the City of Indio in this application for ATP
Cycle 4 funds. Funds will be used to construct Safe Routes to School (SRTS) infrastructure improvements along
and within a'/4 mile of Miles Avenue and Clinton Street. Specifically, Miles Avenue extends into La Quinta's
eastern boundary and project improvements for Amelia Earhart Elementary and John Glenn Middle School are
located within both cities.
The City of Indio will act as the lead agency for this project. If the City of Indio is awarded ATP Cycle 4 funds for
the Clinton & Miles SRTS Corridor Improvement Project, the City of La Quinta intends to enter into a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indio, specifically stating the obligations and responsibilities of each
City regarding the implementation, operation, and maintenance of the project improvements.
While La Quinta will not be providing any local funding as a match for this grant application, the City agrees to
assume responsibility for the operation and maintenance of all improvements that are within La Quinta's
jurisdiction once project construction is complete.
The City of La Quinta looks forward to collaborating with the City of Indio to make this project a success. If you
have any questions please contact me at (760)777-7100 or fspevacek@laquintaca.org.
