Robert Ambriz, Parks Superintendent DATE: September 10, 2018 SUBJECT: 2018 FACILITIES TOUR The Facilities Department (Facilities) will be conducting an informational tour of city facilities for Community Services Commissioners (Commissioners) on the following dates and times: • Saturday, October 27, 2018, 8:00am-10am 10:00 am - 12 noon • Saturday, November 3, 2018, 8:00am-10am 10:00 am - 12 noon The tour is designed to provide information of facility locations, amenities, and status on current projects. Per the Brown Act, no more than two commissioners may be scheduled per tour. If needed, another tour time slot will be added. BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS Voting Procedures: All actions require a majority vote or by a majority of the quorum present. On the passage of every motion, the vote shall be taken by voice or roll call as appropriate. The Interim Chairperson opens and closes nominations to the Commission for Chairperson. The vote will be taken and the Chairperson will be elected. Tie Votes: In the case of a tie vote, an additional motion is made which obtains a majority vote to break the tie. If a tie vote results at a time when less than all members are present, the matter shall automatically be continued to the agenda of the next regular meeting, unless otherwise ordered by the body. ALTERNATIVES The selection of a chairperson is necessary to meet the Municipal Code requirements to effectively preside over Commission meetings; however, Commission may table the discussion until the Commission has met full membership. RECOMMENDATION Appoint a Commissioner to assist at the Christmas Tree Lighting Event as deemed appropriate by the Community Services Commission. BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS In November 2017, Commission appointed Commissioners Van Horn and Chiapperini to assist at the City's annual Christmas Tree Lighting Event (Event) to assist with event giveaways and desserts. Due to a vacancy, staff is requesting Commission to appoint one commissioner to assist at the Event on Friday, December 7 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Civic Center Campus. ALTERNATIVES The alternative is not to appoint commissioners to assist with the event. RECOMMEND EVENT SITE Presented by Chris Escobedo, Community Resources Director and Steve Howlett, Facilities Director MOTION - A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners Marley/Chiapperini to recommend to Council for approval the SilverRock Venue Site Phase I Enhanced Plan. Motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Quill expressed concerned with building the park before Montage/Pendry has secured funding.
