MJE Job No. 2575-45
Dear Brandon:
February 23, 2012
We have reviewed the concern with the location of the existing beam at the Master Suite
addition. It is our understanding that this beam was originally located at the center of the exterior
column. A new wall was to be constructed with the existing beam left in place. However the
proposed plans show the wall in line with the exterior wall of the Family Room.
We feel that this issue can be corrected by framing a new wall as shown on the plans. Therefore
the existing 6x8 beam will not remain in place as noted on the plans. We also believe the
support of the existing trusses to be adequate with this adjustment of their bearing location, This
determination is based on information you provided regarding the truss construction.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance -
Sincerely,
Merrell -Johnson Engineering, Inc.
