ORDINANCE NO. 540

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
540 PROVIDING FOR REGISTRATION OF PERSONS CLEANING CESSPOOLS
AND SIMILAR FACILITIES
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Riverside, State of California, do ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this Ordinance is to implement the provisions of Sections
25000 et seq. of the Health and Safety Code, which provide that the local health officer shall,
subject to the conditions set forth therein, register and regulate persons, who clean cesspools or
similar facilities or dispose of the cleanings therefrom.
SECTION 2. Any person who engages in the business of cleaning, or disposing of the
cleanings, of septic tanks, chemical toilets, cesspools and sewage seepage beds in the
unincorporated area of the County of Riverside must have an unrevoked current registration issued
by the County Health Officer.
SECTION 3. All applications for registration shall be made to the Health Officer upon a form
provided by him, and such registration shall be issued only after a satisfactory examination by him
pursuant to Section 25004 of the Health and Safety Code and payment of a fee as required by
Ordinance No. 554. A registration may be granted at any time during the year, but all registrations
shall expire annually on the 31 st day of December, and shall be renewed within 30 days thereafter.
SECTION 4. Subject to the provisions of Section 3 of this ordinance, the Health Officer shall
provide a registration tag for each vehicle to be operated by a successful applicant, and said tag
shall be securely fastened on each vehicle so as to be clearly visible from the rear.
