SUBJECT: Sign Application. 2003-709 - ID Signs for Desert Discount Cleaners
50801 Washington Street, Suites B_& G.
Dear Ms. Smith:
In regards to the above subject, this Department has approved your request to install -
certain .business identification signs at the above location, as shown on Exhibits A
and B, approved copies of which -are enclosed. This approval is subject .to the
following conditions:
1. The 'applicant- is responsiblefor proper sign maintenance and compliance with
other general sign ,standards as .set forth in the City's sign code, Section
9.160.030, as well as procuring any required building permit.
2.. No. signing is --permitted along the north building elevation, per Approval
Condition 50 for Site Development' Permit 2002-739. The sign at the north
elevation shall be deleted.
3. The signs shall be established within one year, commencing 07/08/03, which
-shall constitute the date of approval for the signs.
4. Installation, design, maintenance and removal of the sign shall conform to the
standards set forth in Chapter 9.160 of. the Zoning Code, . pertaining to
permanent signs.
During our review, it was determined that this proposal can be permitted three signs
per Approval Condition 50, as two contiguous suites under one lease. However, all
signs are. also limited to :the 'respective facades contiguous with the. Leased space.
This decision may be appealed to the Planning Commission pursuant to Section
9.200.120, provided the application requirements of said Section are met within
15 days from the date of this letter.

47. All public agency lettersreceived for this case, are made part of the case file
documents for plan checking processes..,
48. All roof mounted mechanical equipment shall, be screened by roof parapets so
that they cannot be viewed from adjacent properties. Prior to occupancy of the
proposed building complex, a visual inspection shall be made by the.Community
Development Department from all sides of the building from a distance of 800
feet to confirm that the' parapets conceal any roof mounted equipment.
49. Roof elements shall be, limited to a height of.22'-0", excluding the roof structure
over the main entrance which -,is allowed to be up to 23'-9" high:
50. All proposed building signs. shall comply with the La Quinta Village Shopping
Center. Sign Program, including size, 'location; -number and materials. Tenant'
signs shall be restricted to east, west`and south sides of the building with Suite
"A" limited .to two signs, Suite "B" limited to one sign, and Suite "C" limited to
two signs, ensuring no --more .than one sign per storefront facade. A Sign
Application shall be filed to install any building signs, subject to approval by the
Community Development -Department.:.'
51 Trash receptacles for this development shall not be visible from Washington
Street. -
52. .Exterior building lights shall match those used'in the shopping center'.
53. Minor amendments to the plans shall be approved by the- Community
Development Director. Major changes to the overall design of the development
shall required Planning Commission 'review.,,:.
