Dear Mr. Cull:
As requested, the design for the use of a 3"x3"x0.032" Fluted Aluminum Tube for Rafters at Y o.c. and
detail for the Rafter to Beam connection for the aforementioned project is being provided.
It is understood that ....
— The freestanding lattice cover will be built per Duralum Products Inc., LAPMO #0195;
— The Roof Live load is 10 PSF per Appendix H, 2016 CRC.
— The Wind Loads are based 120 MPH Exp "C" Ultimate Wind Speed.
— Seismic - Site Class D, Use Cat =1, SDs=1.0, SD1=0.6.
— The Maximum Height of the Cover is to be 12 Feet or less.
— The Rafters will span 8 feet (center to center) from beam to beam and have a 2 foot cantilever at each
end.
Please be advised that it is acceptable to use a 3"x3"x0.032" Fluted Aluminum Tube (Column "C2",
Sheet L4.2, IAPMO 40195) for rafters at 5' o.c. for the 12' x 20' Freestanding Lattice Patio Cover. The
rafters are to be connected to the beams and each end per the Detail on Attachment # 1. Additionally, it is
acceptable if a flat faced 3"x3"x0.032" Alum Tube (Column "C1", Sheet L4.1, IAPMO #0195) is used as
a sleeve over the fluted tube.
