Effective January 1, 2017, most newly constructed commercial and residential buildings are required to develop a waste management plan and divert at least 65% of the construction materials from landfill by recycling or reusing them. Complimenting the state requirement, the City of La Quinta requires most construction, demolition, remodel, and tenant improvement projects to divert a minimum of 50% of jobsite waste from landfilling.
