Please use proper judgement and cauZon when opening a_achments, clicking links or responding to requests for informaZon. ** Hello, I am wriZng to express my strong opposiZon to a “Wave Park” being built in La Quinta, specifically on Madison between 58th and 60th Avenues (not that there is any potenZal site in La Quinta that I would be happy with). I am told that the wave pool would be 2600’ long by 400’ wide (the longest in the world), and would come complete with 80’ light towers, a 3-storey viewing tower, and a conZnuous stream of loudspeaker announcements, potenZally from 7 am to 10 pm, seven days a week. As a part-Zme resident of the nearby Trilogy community, I am very concerned about the light and noise polluZon that this “a_racZon” would create, as well as the impact of the increased traffic in this area. Many residents of La Quinta are reZred, and came here for peace and quiet. To bring in a facility like the proposed Wave Park would have a huge negaZve impact on the quality of life of La Quinta residents. I am also concerned about the irresponsible use of water. The Coachella Valley is drought-prone, and, as stated on the CVWD website: "CVWD customers are encouraged to continue to be mindful of their water use and understand that water-smart behavior is now part of being a Californian.” How does a wave pool, with the massive amount of water that it would require in order to operate, fit with this mandate? A drought-ridden desert area would seem to me to be the last place where this huge amount of unnecessary water should be wasted. I vehemently oppose any change in zoning that would allow this monstrosity to be built and cause the quality of life in south La Quinta to be destroyed. Thank you for your consideraZon.
