2021-07-21 WeltyNicole Sauviot Criste Consulting Planner City of La Quinta 78-495 Calle Tampico La Quinta, CA 92253 Dear Ms. Criste: Carol Welty Arthur Stephens 81950 Eagle Claw Drive La Quinta, CA 92253 RECEIVED JUL 21 2021 CITY OF LA QUINTA DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT The drought in the west is well documented one of the worst handful of years since the year 800 A.D. per Park Williams a hydroclimatologist at UCLA. One third of crops in California cannot be planted due to lack of water. The drought is draining reservoirs by 30% like Lake Mead at an alarming rate, including our own Salton Sea. To use precious water in the desert for a water absorbing fun park is beyond measure of lack of insightfulness. Not only the water problem but to put a commercial project among planned residential communities does not make sense. We moved to this community in great part because it was a quiet community and area for residential use only. We strongly urge the city planning department as well as all involved in approving any development to please be aware of all of the negatives involved with allowing this project to go through. Thank you for your consideration. Carol Welty Art Stephens Email: carolwelt@yahoo.com
