Dear Mr. Lewis
The Community Development De ' partment has approved your request to install a tent for a
wedding on' May 6, 2007 pursuant to LQMC Section 9.100.140 (Temporary Outdoor
Events). This approval authorizes you to install the tent pursuant to the application on file as
TOP 2007-717,'tubject to the following Findings *and Conditions:
FINDINGS:
The public roadways surrounding the event area are ca , pable of handling the
anticipated traffic volumes generated from this event. No significant effects are
anticipated which would be detrimental to the health, safety and public welfare of
the community, with implementation of the 'proposed traffic control plan and
required conditions of approval.
2. The event is categorically exempt from environmental review under t he California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), under CEQA Guidelines, Section 15304(e).
3. Facilities, either existing or temporary, such as parking, restrooms, security,
lighting, seating, and 'fire, etc., will be provided to accommodate event staff,
visitors, and enriployees.
4. The required conditions will ensure that tenants and residents within the
surrounding area will not be. adversely. affected by this e . vent.
CONDITIONS:
1. By holding this outdoor event, the applicant agrees to indemnify, defend and hold
harmless,the City of La Quinta, its agents, officers, and employees from any
claim, action, or proceeding to attack, set aside, void, or annul the approval of
this Temporary Use Permit.

The City of La Quinta shall have the right to select i ' ts defense counsel''at its sole
distretion. The City of La Quinta shall prom ptly'h 6tify the applicant of any claim,
action, or proceeding and shall cooperate fully in the defense.
2. The applicant shall comply with all provisions of the La Quinta Municipal Code
(LQMC).
3. Permits for the tent shall be obtained prior to installation. Prior to set-up, please
contact the La Quinta Building & Safety Department and Riverside County Fire
Safety at (760)863:-8886 for any additional requirements of the Fire Marshal (see
attachment 2: Structural Requirements for Temporary Tents). Fire lanes shall be
established and/or maintained during the event.
4. Portable generators shall be shielded to prevent accidental contact with guests.
Extension cords shall be groUhd-secured to prevent tripping. Any lighting shall be
directed away from surrounding residential properties. No spot or searchlights
are permitted.
5. Obtain a building permit for temporary electric service and any other required
items (e.g.. bleachers, trailers, portable generators-,. etc.). Contact the Building
and Safety Department at 760-777-7012 for permit requirements.
6.. All temporary electrical wiring shall be secured to prevent physical hazards to the
public and participants. Wiring/cords shall not be subjected to. environmental or
physical damage.
7. All temporary outdoor lighting shall comply with Section 9.100.150 of the Zoning
Ordinance. All temporary lighting shall be turned off within one hour of the
conclusion of events. The use of spotlights, searchlights, or other such aerial"
illumination devices is prohibited, as per City Ordinance.
8. Any and all private security personnel contracted for these eveQjs shall be easily
identifiable to the public by the provision of uniformed personnel. All designated
private security personnel- must be licensed by the State of California and
possess a valid Private Security license.
9. Temporary signs for the event shall require a separate sign permit. This
Temporary Use Permit approval does not constitute approval. for a temporary
sign permit.
10. All event areas shall be left free of debris at the end of the day's activities, and
after the event concludes.
11. Parking for the event shall be contained within the Hideaway Golf Club parking
lots.
12. No on -street public parking outside the event area may be utilized for valet
parking services. All on -street public parking areas shall remain availab.le for
public use.
13. Roadways/traffic aisles to structures and activities in and around the even , t tent
shall be maintained accessible to emergency vehicles 'at all times. If used,
parking monitors shall wear light-colored clothing and reflective vests as needed.
Flash lights shall be used after dusk.
14. The event location shall not deviate from the portion of the site identified in * the
attached site plan. Adjacent fire lane access shall remain unrestricted at all
times.
15. If any ground excavation . s are required, please contact Underground Service
Alert (USA) at. 1-80 , 0-227-2600 or 1-800-422-4133. This service is free of charge
provided USA is given two days notice prior to commencement of work.
16. The tent shall be installed between May 2, 2007 and May 5, 2007 and shall be
removed on or before May 7, 2007.
The City rnay elect to add Conditions to this application request to mitigate any problems
that arise not previously addressed herein.
This decision may be appealed to -the Planning Commission, provided the written appeal
and fil.ing fee.of $175.00 are submitted to this Department within 15 calendar days. Please
contact this office should you wish to file an appeal, and we will assist you in that re* gard.
