LeBasse Projects - Public Art Preservation
CITY OF LA QUINTA BEAU K. BASSE, LeBASSE PROJECTS PROPOSAL FOR PUBLIC ART PRESERVATION SERVICES 01 02 04 03 05 TABLE OF CONTENTS LETTER OF INTEREST QUALIFICATIONS : PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / RESUME REFERENCES ATTACHMENTS ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS Our team at LeBasse Projects (LBP) is very excited to be considered for the opportunity to work with The City of La Quinta in a supporting role as a Public Art Consultant. Based in Los Angeles, we have worked on global public art projects and crafted cultural strategies for private developers and architecture firms including Gensler, HLW, LOWE Enterprises, CBRE, Hudson Pacific and Five Point / Lennar Urban. Our international projects include installations at Times Square and Harbour City, the two largest retail centers in Hong Kong and IAPM, one of the newest mega-malls in Shanghai. LBP is also in the process of producing the central art feature at Auckland New Zealand’s new International Airport Terminal. With several years of focus in the private sector and significant experience delivering progressive contemporary sculptures, installations and murals for developer projects, we have begun to increasingly turn our attention to art in the public sector. Most recently, the City of West Sacramento contracted us to develop a Public Art and Placemaking Master Plan that identifies areas for cultural development and lays out an implementation plan that integrates Arts and Culture to their overall economic development plan. Over the last two years, LBP began working with the City of Santa Monica to create a series of temporary public art installations that have been wildly successful in boosting tourism and pedestrian activity in the area. LBP also is contracted as the Public Art Service Provider for the County of San Diego and is in the midst of designing artist selections for metro buses in the City of West Hollywood. We also act as the Public Art Consultant on file for the cities of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles providing a variety of services from writing public art guidelines, formulating RFPs, managing artist contracts, consulting on arts & culture policies and more. Prior to launching a consulting service in 2012, LBP operated as a contemporary art gallery with venues in Culver City and Chinatown Los Angeles. The gallery was in operation for over 10 years during which we produced over 150 exhibitions, including participation in over a dozen international art fairs and multiple museum exhibitions. Our expertise in producing large-scale sculptures and installations, delivering cutting edge contemporary murals and project managing event-based arts projects, on a truly international scope, along with our ability to support on guidelines and academic civic projects has proven to be truly unique. Adding to that, our team has grown with our in-house design agency which launched in early 2017 and is providing our clients with services from web, logo, print and branding design to social media activation. With our experience and background, we feel we are especially qualified to support The City of La Quinta in all aspects of pubic art needs. Consulting and understanding the impact of public art exhibitions and engagements is our primary focus and core competency. We have been hands on in writing guidelines for cities, engaging with public officials as well as the general public to implement projects and citywide activations. We have managed multiple capital improvement projects and budgets for developers and are comfortable working with all of the various stakeholders in these types of projects. We have extensive experience in writing public art guidelines, establishing pre-qualified artist lists, managing public collections, and working with various community stakeholders and a wide-range of third-party vendors to cover everything from fabrication to installation. Our extensive network in all aspects of the arts will allow us to provide the City of La Quinta with excellent maintenance and conservation services, in addition to a quality list of pre-qualified artists. In particular, our in-house team and vetted network of art preparators, handlers, conservators, and fabricators will allow us to work with the most qualified vendor for each artwork in the City’s collection. Many artworks come with their own particularities in relation to maintenance and conservation, and our experience will allow us to identify these specific needs and work with the vendor most qualified to efficiently and quickly address any issues that may arise. Please find enclosed, for your review, additional materials and information for our firm, as well as a proposal and capabilities list. Thank you in advance for your consideration. We look forward to being part of your team to deliver public art and exhibits to the community in La Quinta. Sincerely, Beau K.
