SUBJECT: MINOR USE PERMIT 2022-0002: 77-750 AVENUE 50 LA QUINTA
COUNTY CLUB PICKLE BALL COURT LIGHTING
Dear Mr. Alcorn:
The Design and Development Department has approved your request to install (8) new light
poles at an existing pickle ball court located at 77-750 Avenue 50. Approval of this
application is subject to the attached exhibits for the Minor Use Permit and the following
Findings and Conditions of Approval:
FINDINGS
1. Consistency with the General Plan: The proposed light poles at the existing La Quinta
Country Club pickle ball courts are consistent with the goals, objectives and policies
of the General Plan, in that the proposed equipment is intended to enhance
community access to quality recreation.
2. Public Welfare: Approval of the proposed light poles will not create conditions
materially detrimental to the public health, safety and general welfare.
3. The proposed new light poles at the existing pickle ball courts will not create new
adverse visual impacts. The associated equipment will be placed entirely within
existing pickle ball court area.
CONDITIONS
1. The applicant/property owner agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the
City of La Quinta (the “City”), its agents, officers and employees from any claim, or
litigation arising out of the City’s approval of this project. This indemnification shall
include any award toward attorney’s fees. The City of La Quinta shall have the right
to select its defense counsel in its sole discretion. The City of La Quinta shall promptly
notify the applicant of any claim, action, or proceeding and shall cooperate fully in
the defense.
2. The applicant shall comply with all provisions of La Quinta Municipal Code Section
9.60.150 “Tennis and other game courts”.
3. A maximum of eight (8) lights shall be permitted and mounting standard height shall
not exceed eighteen (18) feet measured from the court surface. Courts shall not be
lighted after 10:00 p.m.
4. The applicant is permitted to install the equipment identified on the scope of work on
the approved and attached plans for MUP2022-0002.
5. The applicant shall obtain all necessary building permits from the City’s Building
Division and is responsible for meeting all applicable plan check submittal
requirements.
This decision may be appealed to the Planning Commission by any party who submits the
necessary paperwork and filing fee of $1,526.00 to this office within 15 days of the date of
approval of this permit. The City may elect to add Conditions to this application request to
mitigate any problems that arise not previously addressed herein. If you have any
