Please use proper judgement and cau;on when opening a=achments, clicking links or responding to requests for informa;on. ** To whom it may concern I am writing this to let you know I strongly am against the above referenced project for the following reasons: 1. The use of WATER  from our aquifer only to be evaporated in the Wave Festival Park is simply irresponsible in these times of climate change, widespread drought and mandatory water conservation efforts, notwithstanding what is happening with Colorado River water allocations.   2.   TRAFFIC will increase drastically and the proposed mitigation is road widening and the installation of multiple traffic lights at numerous locations throughout La Quinta.     3. The NOISE from the machines and the party goers at the surf festivals will destroy our quiet communities.     4. The LIGHTS from the 80’ towers and the commercial aspects of the development (parking lots, hotel, etc) will forever ruin South La Quinta’s dark night skies.   5.  The Developer’s rhetoric of wanting to be a good neighbour is the deceptive narrative here. A good neighbour does not ask for a zoning change to an existing parcel of land to accommodate 100% SHORT TERM VACATION RENTALS CATERING TO TRANSIENT VISITORS. Transients are strangers and not neighbors. Transients do not promote a sense of community.  6. KELLY SLATER was featured in an article published on December 15th 2021.  Here’s what he had to say about surfing at the Surf Ranch located in Lemoore, CA where the artificial wave basin features his technology:  “I think people are bored with it. The same wave over and over again." 7. The GENERAL PLAN OF A CITY must not be changed to accommodate the whims of Developers - tourist commercial zoning and the resulting development has no place inserted amongst existing quiet established residential communities. Please do not let this project to occur as it will ruin what living in La Quinta is all about and meant to be Regards Scott Rosen Firefox https://outlook.office.com/mail/AAMkAGJiMWY1OTY1LTBhY2EtN... 1 of 1 4/2/22, 10:43 AM
