Take a look at how close this will be to the 58th St side of our neighborhood.  The mechanism that produces the waves is loud and disturbing. It will go on night and day  This should be near a highway, not neighborhoods.  The lighting demo was a joke. We stayed on the inside of the perimeter wall of PGA west and can’t imagine how this will effect our night skies.  It’s a city ordinance to protect the night sky. When did that change?   Stop the wave park idea. Talk about elitist attitude to build this. If you want to surf, go to the ocean. Talk about out of control renters.  Who will this attract?  Is the Sheriff’s office able to respond to problems?  How will this effect the rest of our communities’ need for emergency help.  This cannot be good for La Quinta.  Thank you.  Barb Montavon The use of WATER  from our aquifer only to be evaporated in the Wave Festival Park is simply irresponsible in these times of climate change, widespread drought and mandatory water conservation efforts, notwithstanding what is happening with Colorado River water allocations.   2.TRAFFIC will increase drastically and the proposed mitigation is road widening and the installation of multiple traffic lights at numerous locations throughout La Quinta.     3. The NOISE from the machines and the party goers at the surf festivals will destroy our quiet communities.     4. The LIGHTS from the 80’ towers and the commercial aspects of the development (parking lots, hotel, etc) will forever ruin South La Quinta’s dark night skies.   5.  The Developer’s rhetoric of wanting to be a good neighbour is the deceptive narrative here. A good neighbour does not ask for a zoning change to an existing parcel of land to accommodate 100% SHORT TERM VACATION RENTALS CATERING TO TRANSIENT VISITORS. Transients are strangers and not neighbors. Transients do not promote a sense of community.  6. KELLY SLATER was featured in an article published on December 15th 2021.  Here’s what he had to say about surfing at the Surf Ranch located in Lemoore, CA where the artificial wave basin features his technology:  “I think people are bored with it. The same wave over and over again."   Firefox https://outlook.office.com/mail/AAMkAGJiMWY1OTY1LTBhY2EtN... 1 of 1 4/2/22, 10:43 AM
