Dear City Officials,
Thank you for considering the following opinion when making such an important decision.
My family and I more recently purchased a home in La Qunita and spent much of our time
during the quarantine there. We absolutely fell in love with the majesty of the desert with it’s
peace and quiet, the vastness of the star-filled sky, the hikes, restaurants (ordering in, of
course), and so much more. It was and continues to be such an incredible escape from the
chaos of LA.
Sadly, I have recently learned of the project that is proposed to be built right outside our
neighborhood gates. It was devastating to hear that the City was actually considering allowing
the use of one of our most precious resources, water, for an amusement park. I just cannot
fathom how it has even been a consideration? Am I the only one that sees this as absolutely
irresponsible or is that just because I am a parent and not just thinking selfishly? That I am
actually thinking of my kids and the future generations that will ultimately be the ones to have
to deal with the decisions that we are making today regarding one of our most precious
resources. I feel like this one reason is reason enough to stop this project from happening but
there is more. What about the traffic, the noise and light pollution, or the fact that the developer
has no regard for our beloved community? Have you really considered the overall impact of
your fellow neighbors? All of this seems to stem from greed and it is horrific and shameful to
conceive that this is considered as an acceptable idea by other human beings. I urge you,
please, try and look beyond your own selfish agendas and consider our children, consider our
environment, and please really think about the power that you have over a resource that every
human being needs for survival, water. Please ask yourself what you are more committed to? Is
it greed, to look good, or to gain in your own accolades or is it to truly serve your city with
integrity and honesty? I am pleading let’s find a way to expand and grow our city while being
responsible, sustainable, compassionate, and considerate of each other and our planet. Let us
be a part of the solution and be known for something truly great! Thank you for reading this. I
pray that you make the responsible decision.
Sincerely,
Laci Buller
