Hello,
Thank you for reaching out regarding this permit, this information is valuable
for City staff to better understand potential impacts to surrounding
residents. For clarification, the event permit that has been applied for and
currently under review is for a maximum of 3 events for this calendar year.
The event permit would not allow a year round event site with events every
week. In order for the applicant to request more than 3 special events in a
calendar year, they would need to apply for a “major” special event permit
which would require a public hearing before finalizing.
As for the current event permit, Staff is currently reviewing the event permit
to analyze potential impacts relating to noise, traffic, safety, and
disturbances to adjoining neighbors. The applicant has items that need to be
addressed before we can continue. We are also keeping track of all
correspondence we receive from surrounding residents to keep on file
through our review process to make sure all concerns are appropriately
addressed and to keep in mind as we move forward. This could include

changes in event scope, conditions relating to traffic flow, parking plans,
noise monitors, orientation of music, etc.
If you have any further questions you’d like to speak about the event permit
itself and/or our process, feel free to give me a call and I’d be happy to talk.

Subject: Concerns about 'Morrow Ranch" Event Facility permission (!!)
Dear Mr. Flores –
We are Kay Vereeken and Leen Vandendriessche (36 and 35 years old), living at 55101 Spring Creek
Court La Quinta, all year around residents of the Monterra neighborhood within the PGA West.
It recently came to our attention that the new owner of “Morrow Ranch” is seeking permission from the
city of La Quinta to operate an Event Facility adjacent to our home.
We understand that the activities requested by ‘Morrow Ranch’ include:
• Planned Activities: Weddings, Corporate gatherings, Coachella corporate event(s), 'Glamping'
and Family Retreats
• Maximum Attendance: 500 (+ 25 employees and 3 full‐time ground keepers)
• Parking: Approximately 2.5 acres, space for 250 cars
• Wedding events are planned to be 3 day weekend activities and, like the other activities, will
include portable toilets, trash/dumpsters and amplified music
It goes without saying that we are extremely concerned about the activities mentioned above as they
will undoubtedly result in nuisance such as: Loud noise, Dust, Traffic (250 cars!), Lights, Short‐term
rentals etc. Since we are full‐time residents, we will greatly suffer from those events. As a matter of fact,
we have already had a lot of issues with large amounts of dust caused by the trucks used for
construction works currently taking place at ‘Morrow Ranch’.
We specifically invested in our home within the Monterra neighborhood for its quietness and
peacefulness.
The activities requested by ‘Morrow Ranch” would completely jeopardize this.
Both my wife and I run businesses at different locations in the world, at different time zones which
require us to have a quiet home in order to rejuvenate.

Please accept this writing as a formal protest against the request from ‘Morrow Ranch’ to obtain
approval to operate a year around ‘Event Facility’ next to our home.
Note that if any approval is granted, we will not hesitate to file complaints with the city of La Quinta and
local law enforcement, for each infringement caused by noise, dust, loud music etc that takes place
cause by ‘Morrow Ranch’ events.
We thank you for your understanding and are looking forward in reading your response,
Sincerely,
Kay Vereeken & Leen Vandendriessche
