Good morning Scott,
AJ and I have reviewed the attached documents and, unfortunately, they do not provide the
specific information we need to address the legality of several structures on your property. Most
of what you have attached appears to be incomplete applications and other related eTrakit
documents, but not necessarily issued permits. We do see information that confirms that the
freestanding patio and fireplace structure was permitted and approved. This is shown as permit
number PAT-10-1379, applied for on 12/17/2010 and final on 3/14/2011.
Specifically, we see no information that indicates the bedroom addition connecting the garage to
the original house was permitted. There is no permit information for the structure at the rear of
the garage nor is there evidence of a permit for the detached storage structure at the east yard
area.
At this time I suggest that we conduct a follow-up inspection of your property to focus on the
three items above and determine the next best course of action.

Upon review of documents I received during escrow to purchase our property at 55075 Monroe Street I came across the
attached permit documents provided by the seller. With all these permits I’m not sure why the City doesn’t have more
information on record as it appears all improvements to the property prior to our ownership were previously
permitted. Once you review can you please confirm that we do not need to provide any additional information to the
City.

Hi Scott,
Absent any information such as city approved stamped plans, inspection record cards, etc. we
have to assume that the connecting wing and outdoor bar structure were unpermitted
construction. That being said, I recommend including those areas in your scope of work for the
barn alterations and obtaining a permit for all of this work under the one submittal.

Hi JW,
It was nice meeting with you earlier today and I was excited to get back to my computer to look through Google Earth
time lapse. As you can see from the snapshot below the property was built to it’s existing condition as far back as June
2011. The image prior to this is from September 2009 so at some point between 2009 and 2011 the connecting section
was built. This includes the rooms between house and garage as well as outdoor bar structure. As mentioned, we’re in
the process of drawing plans for permit on the bedrooms in the barn we know were not permitted, but not sure
anything else would be required. Please advise.
