Good day City of La Quinta team. I forwarded to you in a separate note Dr. Jay Famiglietti’s
presentation for the March 22 Planning Commission meeting that he will do over Zoom. He will be
speaking for 6 minutes. We will have one of the attendees defer their 3 minutes to Dr. Jay.
I have an important request. Dr. Famiglietti is a hydrologist, a professor and the Executive Director
of the Global Institute for Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan, where he
holds the Canada 150 Research Chair in Hydrology and Remote Sensing. Before moving
to Saskatchewan, he served as the Senior Water Scientist at the NASA Jet Propulsion

Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology. From 2013 through 2018, he was
appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the California State Water Boards.
I don’t know if it is Chair Nieto or Danny Castro that needs to be consulted, but in deference to
Dr. Famiglietti’s position, is it possible to at least promote him so he is visible? I know you will
not let him share the presentation on Zoom. But since I have heard him speak many times over
zoom, he is very dynamic and I would like him to be visible on the screen.
