2021 11 01 CSC Minutes Special MeetingCOMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2021 CALL TO ORDER A special meeting of the Community Services Commission was called to order by Chairperson Biondi at 3:00 p.m. This meeting provided teleconferencing accessibility pursuant to Executive Orders N-60-20 and N-08-21 executed by the Governor of California, and subsequently Assembly Bill 361 (AB 361, 2021), enacted in response to the state of emergency relating to novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and enabling teleconferencing accommodations by suspending or waiving specified provisions in the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code § 54950 et seq.). PRESENT: Commissioners Blakeley, Gordon, La Greca, Shelton, and Chair Biondi ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Community Resources Director Escobedo, Community Resources Manager Calderon, Community Resources Analyst Calderon, and Community Services Commission Secretary Chaudhry. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Chair Biondi led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. PUBLIC COMMENT ON MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA - None. CONFIRMATION OF AGENDA - Confirmed. ANNOUNCEMENTS, PRESENTATIONS, AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS 1. LA QUINTA ART CELEBRATION PRESENTATION BY SCOPE EVENTS Event Director Kathleen Hughes provided a brief summary of her background, and gave an update on the La Quinta Art Celebration newly added event dates of November 11-14, 2021. APPROVE A NEW START TIME FOR REGULAR COMMISSION MEETINGS The Commission waived presentation of the staff report, which is on file in the Community Resources Office. The Commission expressed a general consensus and desire to start the Commission meetinas earlier than 5 D.M. MOTION - A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners La Greca/Blakeley to change the start time for regular Community Services Commission meetings, held quarterly in the months of March, June, September, and December, from 5 p.m. to 4 p.m. Motion passed unanimously. COMMISSIONER'S ITEMS Chair Biondi reminded the Commission to attend the La Quinta Art Celebration, and the Veterans Day Memorial at City Hall either in -person or via live -stream on Facebook; and also noted that the "Brew in LQ" was scheduled for November 5tn - 7t"1 2021, and nominations had started for the Senior Inspiration Awards. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, hair Biondi adjourned the meeting at 3:26 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
