I strongly oppose the proposed Coral Mountain Resort development. There are multiple
reasons for objecting to this project all of which lead me to conclude it is unsustainable and
irresponsible.
The major concern is the use of large amounts of water. Acres of water are required to fill the
pool. When coupled with the inevitable evaporative losses, water demands will remain high. In
the midst of a drought with current and future water conservation mandates, this proposal is ill-
advised. Consider the long term projections for a hotter, drier climate throughout the entire
southwest region and it becomes nonsensical.
In addition to an ultimately unsustainable water requirement, factor in the light, traffic and
emission pollution resulting from multiple 80 foot light towers and transients in single
occupancy vehicles. The impact to the environment and quality of life in the Valley is
significant. These aren’t neighbors or part of our community, pretending otherwise is
disingenuous.
Finally, even Kelly Slater admitted to Surf re Surf Ranch in Lemoore, “I think people are bored
with it. The same wave over and over again.”
I urge you to reject this project.
