Dear Jon McMillen and the City Planning Office,
I appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts with you and I thank you in advance for taking the time to
view this. I wanted to write a quick note to let you know that my family, friends and I are all very excited
about the proposed Coral Mountain development and Kelly Slater Wave Pool. My family lives in Redondo
Beach, CA and we visit Palm Desert and La Quinta a couple times a year on vacation, but we will be coming
much more if this resort is built. From my experience visiting the Kelly Slater Wave Pool in Lemoore, Ca, there
will be people all over the world wanting to come visit and spend time in La Quinta. I can tell you that the
hundreds of people I have spoken with that have been to the KS Wave Pool in Lemoore say that it was one of
the best days of their lives. There is no doubt that the experience is special. Special in a way that people from
all around the world come to visit, it is sold out every day, and young talented people from all around
California want to work there!! And it is in Lemoore! It's hard to imagine what people would think in an
amazing place like La Quinta. There is really some magic behind the wave and experience. People all around
the world now know about Lemoore because of this wave pool and it sells out at $70k a day with more
demand than they can keep up with. This wave is now a famous experience in the surf world akin to traveling
to the North Shore, Indonesia or Fiji — and the La Quinta area could become a part of that worldwide renown,
magic and attraction with this wave pool, beautiful location and design of the property. These are people and
families coming for an amazing experience, not a big party like Coachella (not that there's anything wrong with
that), but they are paying big bucks for the athletic endeavor, beauty of the area and an athletic outdoor
experience. It sounds like this is a great, experienced group leading the development and I really hope this
comes to fruition. If so, all my families future trips will be to La Quinta and this spot!
Thanks so much for listening and I am happy to share my thoughts with anyone concerned about this
development, the wave pool and the benefits this will bring to the area.
All the best!
Regards,
Adam Buckley
