2022-04-26 Novak, Bridgett Thank you Dale TyermanFrom: Sent: To: Cc: Subject: bnovak26@comcast.net Tuesday, April 26, 2022 10:30 PM Planning WebMail novak@dominican.edu; 'Ramon Baez'; 'Alena Callimanis' Thank you Dale Tyerman EXTERNAL: This message originated outside of the City of La Quinta. Please use proper judgement and caution when opening attachments, clicking links or responding to requests for information. PLEASE PASS THIS TO THE MEMBERS OF THE LA QUINTA PLANNING COMMISSION Thank you Mr. Tyerman for trying to knock some sense into the rest of the Planning Commission re: the lighting! As an Andalusia resident...I could see the test lights and their cone of glare from my house deep in the community. I am horribly upset about the prospect of 15 more 80-foot light poles. I'm also very concerned about the Noise...since the Applicant NEVER conducted studies of jet skis, the wavemaking machinery, screaming children & surfers, audio announcements, etc....in other words, they never conducted studies of the kind of noise that will be produced...at this location. I can't believe that wasn't addressed more seriously by the Commission. Would the members who supported this project want this kind of noise...happening til 10pm every night...if it was across the street from their home? We already know the City Council members support this. We were really hoping more substantive conditions would come from the Planning Commission. So thank you Mr. Tyerman, for your, Michael Procter's and Loretta Currie's comments & efforts. You three seemed to be the only ones able to sort through the sleight-of-hand presentations by John Gamlin and James Vaughn, the CVWD data, and to care about the negative impacts this development will likely have on the surrounding residents. And thank you for your attempt to get them to build the perimeter wall, streetscapes and landscaping sooner rather than later. The fact that they said no, they can't do this, seems to point to their own lack of confidence that this project will succeed. Also...re: traffic. Did you hear James Vaughn say the project will have "no increases in traffic"? Oh yeah? That's not what the EIR shows. And why else would two traffic lights be planned along Madison between Avenues 58 and 60...where there are currently none? This is just one example of how the Applicant stood up...meeting after meeting...and said whatever they could to dispel concerns...whether it was based in fact or not. Even their revenue projections are based on "quantity undefined" numbers of rooms & homes. It is incredibly disappointing to see them get approved! Bridgett Novak 58235 Carmona La Quinta, CA
