EXECUTIVE SUMMARY • The Splash Pad at La Quinta park is aged beyond its useful life, was damaged in a windstorm, and is in need of renovation. • On December 7, 2022, the City advertised a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Project No. 2022-19 LQ Park Splash Pad Renovation. • The Commission will select their top choice to be presented to City Council for consideration in February. FISCAL IMPACT Funds in the amount of $850,000 are allocated in the Park Equipment replacement fund 501-0000-71060 to replace the splash pad. BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS The Splash Pad at La Quinta park is aged beyond it's useful life, the pumps, filters and underground surge tank are in need of replacement. In October 2022, the main water feature rusted out and blew over in a windstorm. On December 7, 2022, the City advertised a RFP for design -build options for Project No. 2022-19 LQ Park Splash Pad Renovation. Three (3) proposals were received from California Waters, Desert Concepts Construction, and California Pools. The selection committee reviewed the proposals and based on qualifications, design, and cost, recommends options "A" and "B" proposed by California Pools for the Commission's review and recommendation to City Council. Funding in the amount of $850,000 is available in the Park Equipment Replacement Fund 501-0000-71060, which includes a project budget of $750,000 and a contingency of $100,000. The design selection recommended by the Commission will be presented to the City Council for consideration in February.
