Paul,
By means of the following, I confirm that I understand that an old pool was removed and a new pool is
going to be placed in relatively the same location. The existing hole will be maintained and the new pool
cast against forms that will later be stripped and backfill placed. This procedure is acceptable for use of
the Standard Plan details with the following cautions:
1. The floor is founded on competent material that is uniformly tight and ready to receive a pool
shell.
2. The pool is not to be filled until all backfill has been placed to grade.
3. The forms are completely stripped from the concrete prior to backfill.
4. Backfill is not to be placed prior to 14 days following the gunite.
5. Backfill and compaction of the material near to the pool must be completed using hand -
compacting tamper equipment. Tractors are to be kept away from the pool shell during
compaction a distance at least equal to the pool depth.
We discussed this on the phone and this is written is confirmation of methods and means, and to assure
the Inspector from the City of La Quinta that I'm aware of the project and process. We have done this
successfully several times before. Exercise caution to do a good job of soil tightening, prior to the new
pool and careful compaction afterwards.
