We are writing this letter to discuss the wind loads in the 2019 California Building Code (CBC) vs.
the 2016 California Building Code (CBC).
Attached is a sample calculation to compare the 2019 CBC loads to the 2016 CBC loads.
Based on our engineering calculations for solid freestanding walls, we certify that the wind loads in
the 2019 CBC with wind speeds of 95 MPH and exposure C as stipulated in the building code will
be lower than the wind loads in the 2016 CBC with 110 MPH wind speed and exposure C.
