Approval as a result of an inspection shall not be construed to be an approval of a violation of the provisions of the applicable code and other ordinances of the jurisdiction. Fax. 801.487.8668 November 18, 2022 Eric Torres Torresfam1974(a-)gmail.com (951) 634-4012 Re: Shade Structure for Trilogy at Laquinta — La Quinta California Mr Torres As per your request, Ward Engineering Group has reviewed the proposed shade structure to be installed adjacent to the tennis bleachers for the Trilogy Club located at 60-750 Trilogy Pkwy in La Quinta California. The new shade structure is being installed over the existing hardscape structure tied to the bleachers for the tennis court (see attached exhibits). Based on the site plan you provided we have scaled the following minimum distances from the column to the property lines, 42'-0" on the pond side and 180'-0" on the parking lot side (see attached exhibits). Our code analysis is as follows. This structure does not fall into any specific occupancy category and would therefore be classified as occupancy U. As such, it is subject to the fire requirements of CBC section 903.2.11.1 through 903.2.11.6. Because this structure is placed on grade and the sides of the structure are completely open it is in compliance with the above mentioned sections. Also, this structure is completely non-combustible structure. Based on these items, no fire sprinklers are required. Conclusion: It is our opinion that this structure will be in compliance with the 2019 CBC. Should any field conditions not be consistent with the assumptions of this letter, notify Ward Engineering Group and further investigation and analysis will be conducted.
