The maximum length of wire (all branches added together) that can be connected to the option bus terminals is 4000 ft (1220 m). The maximum length between any one device and the control panel terminals depends on the current draw on the branch that the device is on. The current draw on a particular branch can be found by adding together the individual current draws of each device connected to the branch. Note Refer to the D7024 Operation and Installation Guide (P/N: 31499) for complete wire length calculations. Refer to listee’s data sheet, installation instructions and/or other VICTOR WONG, Program Coordinator Fire Alarm Systems | D7050 Series Addressable Photoelectric Smoke and Smoke Heat Detector Heads The D7050 Photoelectric Smoke and Smoke Heat Detector Heads are UL Listed, open-area photoelectric smoke detectors designed for use with commercial fire protective signaling systems and household fire warning systems (see NFPA 72, the National Fire Alarm Code). They are compatible with the D7024 Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACPs). They detect large smoke particles by scattering light from a pulsed infrared source operating with a gated, high-speed, photodiode infrared sensor. The symmetry of the optical chamber allows 360° uniform smoke entry, but minimizes external light entry. Use both of these smoke detectors for detection circuits installed in areas where personnel are present. The D7050TH has an added fixed-temperature sensor. This expands the detector application to confined areas where a fire increases air temperature slowly and where there is a substantial increase in air temperature before the fire breaks confinement, such as furnace rooms, closets, and other confined areas. Functions Detector Head and Base System The D7050 Photoelectric Smoke and Smoke Heat Detector Heads are part of a compound system of detector head and base. The detector base installs over a back box and contains all the wiring. The detector head attaches to the base by aligning the head with the base and turning it clockwise. No tools are required for installation other than the hex key used to tighten the tamper screw. Each detector head requires a D7050-B6 detector base. Chamber Check® Self-diagnostics The detector meets NFPA guidelines for sensitivity testing, because you can visually inspect the detector and check the flash rate of the LED. If the calibration is out of factory-listed range, the LED on the detector double flashes once every 3 sec to 8 sec. Follow the instructions provided with the detector to clean it. The detector also sends a dirty chamber report to the control panel. LED Operation When the detector is operating normally, the LED flashes once every 3 sec to 8 sec. In alarm, the detector flashes at least once per second. Magnetic Test Feature Test the detector's operation by placing the SMK-TM Test Magnet next to the detector's LED for three D7050 Series Addressable Photoelectric Smoke and Smoke Heat Detector Heads ▶Connects to the multiplex bus of the D7024 Addressable FACP ▶Superior dust immunity ▶Exclusive Chamber Check® self-diagnostics ▶Automatic sensitivity test features ▶Easy disassembly for cleaning www.boschsecurity.com 2 | D7050 Series Addressable Photoelectric Smoke and Smoke Heat Detector Heads consecutive flashes. The duct housings operate on the MUX bus of the D7024 Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel (ROM version 2.0 or higher). An external 24 VDC or VAC supply is also required. Notice A D7024 FACP with a D7039 Multiplex Expansion Module installed becomes a D7024 Addressable FACP. The efficient housing design samples the air passing through a duct and detects potentially hazardous conditions. When smoke is detected, the detector sends an alarm signal to the control panel or HVAC control equipment that initiates the necessary action to control air handling systems. In addition, one Form A and two Form C auxiliary relay contacts are available for other functions such as fan shutdown. Notice Auxiliary relays are normally non-latching. To make these relays latch, see the D343 Installation Guide for wiring. Functions Alarm and Trouble Indication A D344-RT Remote Test Kit, a D344-RL Remote Indicator Kit, or a DRA-5 Remote Annunciator can provide remote LED indication of alarm and trouble status. The red LED lights for an alarm. An open loop causes the yellow Trouble LED to light. Air Sampling Use the duct detector housings in air handling systems with ducts between 1 ft (31 cm) and 10 ft (3.1 m) wide and air velocities between 300 ft/min and 4000 ft/min (1.5 m/s to 20.3 m/s). Air is forced into the detector through an air sampling tube, tested, and returned to the duct through an exhaust tube (supplied). Sampling tubes should extend across the width of the duct. Bosch offers sampling tubes in three different sizes. Combine or cut the tubes to make other lengths. Sampling tubes over 3 ft (91.4 cm) must be supported at the end opposite the duct detector. Sampling tubes are provided with an end plug that must be installed in the open end. System Testing Place an external magnet on the detector housing or switch a signal from a remote test station to test the system (requires an external 24 V supply). Reset the system by power shutdown or if a D344-RT is connected, use the key-operated switch. All System Sensor duct smoke detectors and accessories are UL listed. The APA151 piezo annunciator, which replaces the APA451 with a new, improved look, provides an audible alarm signal, a red LED to indicate alarm status, and a green LED to indicate power status. It is intended for use with System Sensor 4-wire conventional duct smoke detector applications without a system control panel, to comply with NFPA 90A. The MHR and MHW SpectrAlert® Advance mini-horns feature temporal or continuous tones at high and low volume settings. Their small footprint allows mounting to single-gang back boxes for applications where a small device is desired. The RA100Z and RA100ZA remote annunciators are designed for both conventional and intelligent applications. Their red LED provides visual indication of an alarm condition. The RTS151 and RTS151KEY remote test stations are automatic fire detector accessories designed to test duct smoke detectors from a convenient location. For 4-wire detectors, the RTS151KEY test station features a multi-colored LED that alternates between steady green and red. For 2-wire detectors, the LED illuminates red for alarm. The RTS2 and RTS2-AOS multi-signaling accessories are designed to work with InnovairFlex 4-wire conventional duct smoke detectors. These accessories include a key switch that can be used to select one of two connected sensors to be tested, reset, or both by a push button switch. They also enable sensitivity measurements using the SENS-RDR sensitivity reader (sold separately). The AOS (Add-On Strobe) is an optional accessory included with the RTS2- AOS model. 3825 Ohio Avenue • St. Charles, IL 60174 Phone: 800-SENSOR2 • Fax: 630-377-6495 www.systemsensor.com ©2013 System Sensor.
